Omega Society by Eileen Glass

Omega Society Auction: Episode One (Rourke #1)Omega Society Auction: Episode One by Eileen Glass
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I’m going to start off and say this book has a very interesting concept of a storyline. I’m digging the whole Omega and Alpha idea but it’s completely new to see it mashed with SciFi (Aliens). I don’t know, I picked up this book because it was so outlandish that I had to see what it was about. For the most part, I did enjoy it, but I felt it lacked a lot. This book could have had a lot of potential to be amazing. Since this is the first episode, I’m aware that it was only the beginning and set up the story for the other 3 episodes. BUT, I felt like it could have dived deeper into the backgrounds of characters and general history. Still though, I’m interested enough to keep reading and see how this story plays out.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I am proud to say that I actually managed to get through all 4 episodes when I didn’t think I was going to. It was my pure determination and general curiosity to see how the story ends that got me through it all. Overall, I had a lot of mixed feelings about the storyline. The backbones of the story were really interesting and new, which is what held my interest. But well, I personally thought that the story lacked everything else that made it a ‘good’ story. In my opinion, I thought the characters were really underdeveloped, the background story isn’t strong, lack of world-building, and honestly, that ending with Cory kind of pissed me off. I don’t know, I feel like if this was taken back in too the writing board, this could be a pretty decent book, but as of now, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Omega Society Auction: Book Two (Rourke #2)Omega Society Auction: Book Two by Eileen Glass
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ok, I gave this episode a slightly higher rating than the first book because I was engaged with the relationship between Rourke and Zachri. That being said, I really wish that in this episode that there would be deeper information about the mother, the missing father from Rourke’s life, heck, even more information about this so-called war that seemed to have crushed the humans and made such a large disgust for them. Though, I did enjoy Thomas’ character (he’s kind of overly friendly and I’m going to smile everywhere I go type of guy). At this point, my curiosity is the only thing that’s getting me to pick up the 3rd episode to read….

Omega Society Auction: Book Three (Rourke #3)Omega Society Auction: Book Three by Eileen Glass
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I don’t know anymore what’s getting me to keep reading this series, but I’ve made it to episode 3 at least through pure determination. I’ve said this in my review for the first episode, but this story had a lot of potential to be something really great, it’s just not hitting any of the points. The storyline is interesting, that much I’ll give, but I really wished there were more descriptions on ANYTHING in this book… whether it be diving more on backgrounds of characters, world-building, or just anything. This episode in general was supposed to be really emotional considering Rourke seems to be going through a lot in his new life, but it’s just missing a little something-something for me to connect with the character. I feel so detached from all the characters and it’s to the point that I’m finding Rourke to be kind of silly as your main character. It almost feels like he’s taken a new turn with his thoughts and emotion’s from the first two episodes and is looking like a different character.

Potions and Poisons Series by Catherine Stein

How to Seduce a Spy (Potions and Passions #1)How to Seduce a Spy by Catherine Stein
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Being the second book I’ve had the pleasure of reading from this author, I was pleased to know that this one lived up to the same expectation I had for the other book. How to Seduce a Spy, the first book in the Poisons and Passions series by Catherine Stein, is all you need in a book if you have a love for steampunk, romance, and fantasy. I really enjoyed the simple but fast pace of the writing and the narration. I actually thought that the narration drove the plotline really well instead of holding it back. You could also tell that this author has done a lot of research and passion into this debut book, which could easily be seen through the writting. Another wonderful read!

The Earl on the Train (Potions and Passions, #0.5)The Earl on the Train by Catherine Stein
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just like the first book of the Potions and Passions series, The Earl on the Train, carries the same level of well-written storyline that only enhances the series further. I was already in love with the world-building this author created in the first book, but I also really loved her versions of potions. Characters I thought were really well developed and I enjoyed the comedy aspect to them and their relationship. From the cover, you don’t really expect how action-packed the storyline is, but well, it’s quite actiony, which is great! There’s plenty of cute little romantic scenes between Nick and Ida.

Eden’s Voice by Catherine Stein

Eden's Voice (Sass and Steam #1)Eden’s Voice by Catherine Stein
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Eden’s Voice, the first in the Sass and Steam series by Catherine Stein, has many things I love all mashed up in this cute book. Loveable and unique characters, historical background settings, and of course, the massive steampunk/steam aspect! This book is perfect for readers that love sports, the adorable romance between two not-so-average characters (one partially deaf, and the other with a damaged leg). It’s fun and unique reading about how these two characters deal with life in their own way while using the fascinating steampunk inventions.

The Renascent World by Carryn W. Kerr

The Renascent WorldThe Renascent World by Carryn W. Kerr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m going to be honest. This type of genre isn’t usually one that I would pick up but I was immediately drawn to the cover. But I found that I thoroughly enjoyed The Renascent World by Carryn W. Kerr. This book was filled with lots of action, loveable romance, extreme plot twists that have you shell shocked, and all the fun of a post-apocalyptic world. Truly, I’ve liked this a lot more than I originally thought I would and would recommend this to any kind of sci-fi/ action/ adventure book lover!

The World Apart Series by Robin D. Mahle

The World Apart Completed Series (World Apart, #0.5-4)The World Apart Completed Series by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh man, every time I pick up a story with this author, I honestly fall more and more with her work. This series is steller (just like her other books I was blessed to read). I’ve literally cut down on my sleeping time because I just NEEDED to keep reading. The characters were. just so loveable AND relatable, plus who doesn’t love the good ole enemies to lover’s trope? I certainly don’t, as I gobbled up Clark and Adelaide’s relationship. (Plus, Clark is kind of dreamy….. for a fictional guy, it’s hardly fair).

I thought this series had it all with so much built up suspense, lovable characters, romance, and a dash of humor. I also appreciated the ‘steampunk’ touch, since that’s secretly an interest of mine. Honestly, if you’re looking for a new read, have time, or trying to get out of a reading slump, give this series a go!

Unwind Series by Neal Shusterman

Unwind (Unwind, #1)Unwind by Neal Shusterman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is both interesting and disturbing in the best way. The storyline is quite different than any other book I’ve picked up. It’s one of those things where you’re so scared and disturbed but something about the content is urging you forward to finish the book. Amazing!

Moonchild by Kate L. Mary

Moonchild (Moonchild, #1)Moonchild by Kate L. Mary
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Can I just say how much I love steampunk related things? This book didn’t fail my expectations with the story as a futuristic steampunk world. There’s danger, world-building, crimes, and a loveable main female lead, Scarlett. She’s strong, badass, and clearly not afraid to use her femininity to get what she wants or needs to be done.

This story falls heavily on Scarlett avoiding or denying her ‘romantic’ feelings for the male lead, Asher, but I found it quite enjoyable to read. The style of writing was descriptive well and yet it was clean and easy to understand. I thought the plotline was well written as well and held my interest pretty early on.

Species Traitor by Kate L. Mary

Species Traitor (Species Traitor, #1)Species Traitor by Kate L. Mary
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Species Traitor is a futuristic mash of SciFi and Dystopian with a splash of romance added in. There’s lots of worldbuilding in the author’s writing style, and well-developed characters. I easily found myself immersed in the storyline. Looking forward to the author’s next books!
