What are some books/series that made you cry?

There has been quite a few series that has hit me so emotionally. Each one for various reasons, obviously, but I felt the heartache days later. Here are just a few of mine!

House of Night Series by P.C Cast and Kristin Cast

This series was so jammed packed with plenty of action and teenager drama, which made it quite a page-turner. Every book had something big situation-wise happening and only seemed to get heavier as you went through the books. By the time I hit Hidden, the 10th book in the series, I’ve gone through too many ups and downs with all of the characters. There was one particular character (I won’t put in spoilers but if you know, you know), that truly shattered me when a certain scene happened….. To this day, it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve read through the House of Night, I’m still hit strongly emotionally and left feeling all sorts of feelings… (In a good way of course).

Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

Ok, so I know this series has gotten so much hype over various social media platforms, but this one was truly worth it. I don’t normally enjoy over-hyped books, but let me tell you, I’ve read this whole damn thing within a week. I’ve lost so much sleep and eating time because I NEEDED to get through this. Not WANTED, but NEEDED. From the very first chapter in Throne of glass, the main character Celaena/Aelin was already going through a lot of sh*t.

Being a fast-paced series, practically every chapter had something going on with more horrible situations compared to the positive. As you read through the series, the build-up to the last book is groundbreaking and certainly broke my heart and soul into a million pieces. I have never felt so horrible or pained for a character so strongly in my life like I did for Aelin and what she had gone through in her young life. I’ve honestly lost count of the amount of times I had to pause and just cry for how powerful each scene was and the character growth that came out of it. Truly fantastic series if you haven’t read it yet!

Sea Witch by Sarah Henning

If you’re like me and love fairytale retellings, then you might enjoy The Sea Witch duo. Being the retelling of the classic tale of The Little Mermaid, it didn’t disappoint. The focus of this series wasn’t on Ariel but actually Ursula, the witch of the sea, which I thought gave this that much more spice. This series was brought to me by a good friend of mine to read after she had her heartbroken for the main female: Evie.

Being a strong slow-burn type novel, this series isn’t on everyone’s favorite list unless you’re into that. In my opinion, the slower type of slow-burn made the endings that much more worth it. But if you’re all for this, then you’re in for a lot of heavy, dark scenes that twist your heart and mind as each page is flipped.

Circe by Madeline Miller

I am a massive fan of anything mythology or folklore-based. Circe is probably one of my favorite Greek mythology-based stories of all time. The main character Circe, daughter of the God Helios and Oceanid Nymph Perse, lives in a very dysfunctional household where pretty much everyone either scorns her or belittles her in some way.

This story goes through a thousand years of everyday life for Circe and how she desperately tries to survive and ignore the dishonor she brought onto her family line. As readers, we go through years of pain and mistreatment with the main character in such a beautifully written way.

Tell me some of your favorite books/ series that made you emotional or break down for a good cry! I love hearing about stories that heavily affected it’s readers!
